How the British media manufactures racism

Most British people are fundamentally not racist. However the people in power stoke racism and have done for centuries leading to a situation wherein racism in the UK absolutely exists.

The UK has a racism problem. It always has, it’s just been hidden or actively suppressed. Until summer 2024 and large scale race riots hit and people couldn’t deny it any longer.

The legacy of a country built on the quite overtly racist British Empire and one that was brutally cruel to post war world immigrants from the colonies (many of whom fought for the Allies) is not surprising.

If people are unaware, not only did Britain brutally enslave and torture abroad during the Empire (Amritsar massacre, slave trading etc.) but when those groups came to their colonial home during the 1950s/60s in large numbers they were greeted with race hate. Often this was violent as in 2024 riots and most of it not reported due to distrust of authority, language barriers or plain fear.

The racism still exists if not so violent and overt anymore (notwithstanding last summer which was a mask off moment). It is covert.

The Windrush scandal, the history of race riots in 20th century Britain and anti racist marches …. it’s all there to research online but that’s not the point of this article.

But people aren’t born racist. The powerful manufacture it.

The British mainstream media is owned by billionaires.

Many ‘journalists’ blame the people themselves. Others prefer to point at individuals and/or social media; Tommy Robinson (who I condemn for being a far right career criminal and yes he played some part) became an excellent scapegoat for the mass media to blame it all on last summer.

As bad as he is, I’d argue he is totally incomparable to men like Murdoch, Farage, Musk et. al because he was from the working class and so rightly punished for every one of his crimes whereas Murdoch and Farage are from a different social strata so can do the same thing but live in high society, without arrest or bad publicity.

Social media does play a role. There have been credible reports of bots infesting British social media algorithms to sow discord. Last summer we know Russian bots played a role.

I cannot prove but I strongly suspect major UK subreddits have been astro-turfed given how their tone has shifted massively since even 12 months ago, X is a Neo Nazi safe haven now and Facebook and Instagram removed fact checkers.

But the real cause is the mass media, which even by global standards is uniquely mistrusted.

They will never outwardly just be racist, that goes against the media law and they would be sued. Also that way they can deny being to blame.

How do they do it?

Simple really.

Crime

News values are “criteria that influence the selection and presentation of events as published news.” These values help explain what makes something newsworthy.

A big one is negativity, people click on stories that anger or upset or shock them.

I am not saying crime isn’t an issue or criminals are good but do we really need to see another story about a criminal locked up? Does it make us happy? Can we actually do anything about it?

The selection is very deliberate. A White man stabbing another White man is boring.

A Black man from London stabbing literally anyone? That will get more clicks as it becomes easier to paint a narrative and garners more hatred.

That way, you can manipulate your audience into thinking that London is the crime ridden stabbing capital of the UK but it isn’t particularly special by UK standards.

If a White man committed the same crime Alex Rudakubana did (and he is pure evil and should be in jail for life without parole and it was one of the worst crimes in modern UK history), it would not have led to a riot.

I can prove this because there have been cases of white men killing children and not once did a riot occur as a result.

The Catholic Church sexually abused children? Front page for a few hours. Yet I did not see Elon Musk, Badenoch, Farage talk about this the same way they talked about the Muslim grooming gangs.

Over-platform and overrepresent the most extreme and negative minorities

I am vehemently against Islamism.

It’s actually a point where I get upset at my fellow leftists about; there is no justification for terrorism and Islamists are no different to Nazis in their core beliefs and they are the biggest security threat in the UK alongside the far right.

I also don’t care for protecting criticisms of religions, in this case Islam. In fact the left is way too soft and hypocritical.

However on the terrorism issue – are Islamists representative of the average Muslim? Not even close.

Anjem Choudhary, the Islamist preacher responsible for radicalising the killers behind some of the worst Islamic terror incidents was platformed by the British media regularly and even American outlets like CNN had him on.

Despite the Muslim Council of Britain denouncing him, he was on the British mainstream media numerous times.

I would encourage people to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noOPNkxQE9M&ab_channel=BBCNewsnight. Look how the panel exposes how the BBC over-platforms only the worst of minorities and ignores the rest and see how Paxman squirms.

Speaking and acting on our behalf

Has anyone else noticed how most of the people who make progressive arguments tend to be White and middle class in British political discourse? James O Brien etc. This isn’t to say these people can’t have a voice but there is a clear attempt wherein these arguments can only be made through one lens.

Is it because we’re all too stupid? No.

Even after the summer race riots, nothing happened. Our voices were not uplifted, nothing happened.

Modern DEI movements are a sham; the media has never cared about representing us but now it pretends to because post BLM and a literal race riot and with a more considerable percentage of their market being minorities, they have to do something.

I never see people of colour wanting to cancel old TV shows or demand we swap the races of old characters. That is not the top of our agenda.

It is just virtue signallers who don’t actually want to deal with the nitty gritty of race so look for easy wins thereby annoying people and the backlash is put onto us.

In the USA, when Speedy Gonzalez was cancelled for being racist it was Mexicans who led to backlash.

Underrepresent the ones who can make a difference

British Indians are still underrepresented as are British Chinese people in the arts and political media. Is this because these groups have tended to do well economically and socially and therefore it does benefit the media to show this?

My greatest inspiration is Akala. For a reason. It’s a very British experience to be a minority here.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard his music on BBC Radio 1 get serious replay but you can bet the next grime track about murder, drugs and money will go right to the top.

It doesn’t help them to portray Black men as educated, find a walking stereotype then make your next radio bulletin about a rise in racism in the UK and pretend you don’t know what you did.

Pro Palestinian political rapper, Lowkey, is about to tour the UK. Clearly he has the numbers. I’m not his biggest fan in the world of his politics, he has massive blind-spots and flaws but for his music numbers he should be invited on. Again, almost zero radio play on BBC Radio compared to rappers who talk about negativity.

I am everything “they” want – I am not religious so they can’t throw that one at me, I am fully integrated, I am patriotic, I have done a lot of serious work, I denounce all the things they say we don’t. But that’s actually the problem. People like me could make a difference – the billionaire mass media don’t want that.
