Nigel Farage is no patriot

I am a patriot. In World War Two, when Nazi Germany declared war on the planet it was Britain, the USA, the Soviet Union and soldiers from the commonwealth; India, Pakistan, Jamaica, Canada etc. that beat them.

Farage gains support partially due to the left abandoning patriotism in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with celebrating the Union Jack and making our country a priority and to make a more controversial point; nothing wrong with opposing mass immigration. I don’t disagree with either in principle at all.

The problem is, Farage stands against British values and is no patriot and his opposition to migration is not based on logic.

According to Led By Donkeys, Farage marched through a Sussex village chanting Hitler Youth songs in his youth.

Britain has a history of Nazism and antisemitism but ultimately Britain fought against Hitler and won. Millions died to do so, including those from the commonwealth of which many emigrated to Britain now. So how can exactly Farage claim to stand for Britain?

He is a well-known admirer of Enoch Powell, who gave the infamous “Rivers of Blood” speech.

Again, opposition to mass migration is not racist or anti British but admiring a man who made an overtly racist speech (the Black man will have the whip hand over the White man …) and was kicked out of the Tory party for doing so, is.

He was invited to address an AFD rally, AFD being a far right German party. Again, do I need to explain why far right and Germany are a bad combination and anti British?

He is also an admirer of Vladmir Putin as a ‘political operator’. Putin is currently bombing Ukraine.

He also wants an insurance based healthcare system for the NHS. How can a man that stands in opposition to want the British public believe on foreign policy and the NHS be pro Britain?

This is not to say there is a good alternative because there isn’t. British politics is a nasty mess of out of touch, hate-filled and stupid characters.

But on balance I think Starmer, Badenoch, Davey etc. are far more patriotic than Farage.
