How Russia unites political extremists in Britain

Edit: I corrected the original article to amend for a mistake I made RE Corbyn.

What links together Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson and George Galloway? Not a lot it seems. All are deeply controversial figures with varying levels of support but on all else differ immensely.

However on one issue they have an unlikely alliance: Putin and Russia. All have spoken on Russia Today.

It is notable to me that the only people in politics who have halfway positions on Ukraine are the extremes.

From Galloway spreading Russian disinformation to right wingers like and Tommy Robinson speaking in Russia and parroting pro Russian propaganda – it is utterly bizarre.

But it is not just these fringe crazy sounding political parasites. Major characters such as Farage said the West provoked the war in Ukraine and he also made multiple appearances on Russia Today.

Social media exposes them both. If one searches ‘Ukraine’ on Tommy Robinson’s X account (again I will not link due to Musk) it will show result after result attacking Starmer for funding Ukraine.

Either this is a random coincidence or Russia uses British political figures to sow discord and spread their propaganda or it could well be that these people just genuinely believe what they are saying.

We should have an open mind about things. I take my information from all sources as much as I can and we all make mistakes.

However, Russia’s war in Ukraine is due to Putin and Russia Today has been banned in the UK. It is completely unacceptable to say otherwise or to appear on the station and to me shows why I will never align with the far left or the far right.

Social media exposes them both. If one searches ‘Ukraine’ on Tommy Robinson’s X account (again I will not link due to Musk) it will show result after result attacking Starmer for funding Ukraine.

According to Human Rights Watch: “Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, its war against Ukraine has had a disastrous impact on civilian life, killing thousands of civilians, injuring many thousands more, and destroying civilian property and infrastructure. Russian forces committed a litany of violations of international humanitarian law, including indiscriminate and disproportionate bombing and shelling of civilian areas that hit homes and healthcare and educational facilities.”

I couldn’t find a website with a full list of UK politicians who spoke on Russia Today but from my research I conducted this list: Alex Salmond, Galloway, Farage, David Davies, Nigel Evans, Rosie Duffield, Richard Burgon, Barry Gardiner, Chris Bryant, Jeremy Corbyn and Stanley Johnson.

Conclude what you will. My conclusion is that extremist thinking in all forms is a bad idea.
